Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz ((ポーランド語:Uniwersytet Kazimierza Wielkiego w Bydgoszczy); UKW), also known as the Casimir the Great University, is a state-funded university in Bydgoszcz, Poland. It was named after Casimir III the Great (''Kazimierz III Wielki''), the King of Poland (1333-70) who granted the city municipal rights on 19 April 1346. == History == Kazimierz Wielki University is a public university founded in 1968. As the university expanded, its organizational structure and the name changed. Originally, the Teachers Training College (1969–74) with three faculties: Humanities, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, as well as Pedagogy; it was followed by the Higher School of Pedagogy (1974–2000) devoted to teacher training; then the Kazimierz Wielki Academy of Bydgoszcz (2000–05); and finally the Kazimierz Wielki University since 13 May 2005.
